It was really pretty! There were some big cliffs, and when we went off on our own, we actually climbed the cliffs. But when we first got there we went on a guided tour of the park. Let me just show you a picture of our tour guide:
Meet Patty Quack. He was one crazy guy. He was waayyy too into his job, but it made for a fun time! Later that evening it began to rain and it did not stop raining until we got back to campus and even then it was drizzling. We had a delicious meal of hot dogs, burgers and PB&J, and then around 7:30 Mackenzi and I headed to bed. Yeah, 7:30 pm. We were so tired. So we curled up in our super intense sleeping bags (they can go down to -18°C!) and slept in a very cozy (6 man) tent. The rain was very soothing and out stuff did not that wet at all (and thank goodness for rain boots!)! It was a very warm night of 13.5 hours of sleep. In the morning we actually had a hot breakfast which was really nice since I haven't had a hot breakfast since I left home. But everyone wanted to go home after breakfast but we were scheduled to go on another hike. In the rain. We FINALLY headed back to campus around 11:45, and everyone on the CABS bus was asleep. So we're dead tired, right, and we drop off our stuff at the ARC, and we board the bus to go back to the dorms when we find out we had to set up our tents again for the staff. We weren't the happiest people to be around, but we did our job and set up the rainy, muddy tents. We finally made it back to campus and just in time to get brunch at North Commons. Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend!
Besides camping, the past week was relatively uneventful. I did, though, go on a midnight rainy walk through campus with my floor bff Brian, pictured here:
"Walk in the rain... while you still can"
We actually take a lot of late night walks together now that I think of it. This past Sunday we went to Buckeye Donuts at 2 am. (It's kind of scary how dead High is at 2 am on a Sunday. I mean, it's expected because it's a Sunday, but if you go on High at 2 am on a Friday or Saturday, a little different.) So yeah, walking in the pouring rain was fun stuff.
I also played a lot of sand volleyball this past week. Team Funeral represent! Actually, a lot of my floor does a lot of sports together. Ultimate, basketball, volleyball, wallyball, and they all seem to be really late at night. Now that I think of it, our floor likes to do a lot of stuff late at night. Including my RA, who does not seem to enforce quite hours (which is nice, not gonna lie). My RA!
Meet Kerry
Other random thoughts from the week:
- Dried mangoes are delicious
Brian and Aaron eating some dried mangoes
- I'm on the ENR flag football team
- People can be very mean to freshman (I'm talking to you, senior RA from Haverfield!)
- Marcus, who lives on my floor, is trying out for the baseball team
Good luck Marcus!
- The best deal at Ohio State? Cheeseburger as a side!
- Happy birthday to Andreas, Mason, Magda, and Kermit!!! They all have birthdays this week!
